Nottingham Eco Home

Tours begin at 11am and 2:30pm.

A pioneering, radical eco fit of a Victorian semi and garden. The house now uses 60%+ less energy and emits 90%+ less carbon dioxide than previously.

Whole house insulation – external and internal including attic rooms and cellars. Installation of renewables solar thermal and wood burning boiler. Rainwater harvesting system supplies toilets, washing machine and garden. Owners have taken a WHOLE PLOT approach to their retrofit, the garden and house now work together. Probably the UK’s most extensively retrofitted home and garden for water management. All rainwater managed on site through variety of means including SUDS, rainwater harvesting and ‘edible’ green roofs. Ultra low water and energy use. House features eco kitchen with recycled materials. LED lighting used throughout house. Winners DECC Retrofit Pioneers Award 2012.

More information on this house, including a video, can be found here.
