Prime Minister Commits £3bn UK Climate Finance to Supporting Nature

On 11th January, during a virtual address to the One Planet Summit for biodiversity in Paris, Boris Johnson announced that £3bn, a part of UK's £11.6bn contribution to International Climate Finance (ICF), would go to 'protecting nature, whether it's marine life or timber conservation or sustainable food production'.

About 30 politicians and opinion leaders addressed the global summit aimed at protecting the world’s biodiversity, including the Prince of Wales. During the summit, around 50 countries committed to protecting 30% of the planet, including land and sea, over the next decade.

Conservation group WWF stressed the need to also address the destruction of nature from UK supply chains, alongside this nature restoration.
