This is the second meeting of the newly relaunched Chesterfield Climate Alliance - a coalition of individuals and groups working together in Chesterfield to take action on the climate and ecological emergency. This meeting is for people in Chesterfield who want to push for a green and fair recovery. It will focus on starting to plan ideas for action, with different breakout groups on different action idea topics.
The group also aims to have a stall on Saturday 10th October in the Market Place, however this has not been confirmed at time of writing.

Every year we use around 13 billion plastic bottles, 9 billion drinks and nearly 3 billion coffee cups. In this talk, you will hear from environmental charity, Hubbub, who have been taking part in exciting and engaging trials to increase the amount recycled in Leeds, Swansea, Dublin, and Edinburgh.
You will also hear about the work they have been doing to address the issue of coffee cups. Currently, 5,555 plastic-lined coffee cups are disposed of every minute in the UK - and only 4% get recycled correctly.

Nicolas will talk about how much electric cars have changed over the last 3 years, their likely development over the near-future, and what role hydrogen may play as a fuel source in transport. Dean will draw on his experience in the field of EV charging and eco-housing to discuss the direction EV charging is taking, and how it relates to our wider energy use.
Tina will talk about a key element of the Buxton Travel Plan which is under consultation - The Big Buxton Experiment: Sharing Place, Space and Ideas - and the trial of 5 new traffic free walking and cycling routes within the town. Roland, who manages Hayfield Sustainable Transport Ltd, will talk about shifting control and responsibility for developing new transport provisions from providers to users.
A screening of Kate Roworth Ted Talk (15 minutes) will be followed by a discussion hosted by Pete Milway, Buxton resident & economist and co-author of the Buxton Economic Resilience Study

Want to make your home more eco-friendly? Chris Brooks will describe the practical details on setting up a solar light to run off a DIY panel in your shed or outhouse, and possibly in your house. Chris uses solar energy to power all his (LED) lighting at home (even in winter!). There will be a virtual tour of his solar installations and a chance to ask questions about any aspect of solar power.
