Hayfield Eco Homes Tour

Sustainable Hayfield is organising a minibus tour of three homes on Saturday 5th November 2016. The tour, using a community-owned minibus, will start at the Royal Hotel car park at 10.30a.m. and finish at Ashlar, Market Street around 2.45p.m. An hour will be spent at each house, and a light lunch will be offered at the last house visited.

A visit to three Hayfield homes which, between them, have incorporated a range of energy-saving features which ensure they are warm and yet economical to run. They are, respectively, a large mid Victorian house, a modern extension to a historic hall and a newer-build detached house. In all, you’ll hear accounts (and be able to take away written information) from the homeowners of the improvements/features they’ve introduced which include, in no particular order:

  • Wood pellet boiler powering heating and hot water
  • Varied solar panels
  • Very high insulation levels to loft, cavity walls and under floor
  • Radiator reflectors
  • LED lights
  • Passive solar collectors
  • A‘green roof’
  • Low-pressure/hot water gas-powered underfloor heating
  • Argon-filled double glazing
  • A vehicle charging point for electric vehicle

Places are limited and need to be pre-booked. Contact John on 01663 742199.
