Inkerman Cottages, Chesterfield
An 1890’s end terraced with a self-built oak framed straw bale extension. The house also has solid wall insulation fitted internally, DIY-ed solar thermal panels and triple glazed wood framed windows. There are thermal boards and cork above the concrete floors. The house is heated by electricity and a wood burning stove. The householders bills have gone down by about 20% despite the extension increasing the size of the house.
